BetaWolf Terms of Use
The following terms apply to members of BetaWolf in addition to the Site's Terms of Service. W.O.L.F. Sector's Terms of Service and Conditions of Use ("TOS") is hereby incorporated by reference. If any conflict arises between the BetaWolf Terms of Use and the TOS, Kodi Wolf shall make the final decision as to which document or provision shall take precedence.
This document is designed to clarify the overall responsibilities and obligations of Users of BetaWolf. BetaWolf, including its underlying source code, may be used only under the following Terms of Use:
1. Description of Service top ^
BetaWolf provides its Users ("You") with free access to unpublished stories and other works in progress written by Kodi Wolf ("Content") in return for in-depth evaluations of such Content. In addition, you also receive access to Content once it has been added to W.O.L.F. Sector (the "Site").
You are responsible for obtaining access to the Service, including, but not limited to, any third-party fees (such as an Internet Service Provider or airtime charges) and any equipment necessary to access the Service (such as a computer and modem).
2. Acceptance of Terms top ^
Use of BetaWolf and/or its Services constitutes your acceptance of the BetaWolf Terms of Use. If you do not agree to be bound by the BetaWolf Terms of Use, you must discontinue use of BetaWolf and its Services and leave BetaWolf immediately and destroy any and all copies of BetaWolf Content you may have.
3. Content Submitted or Made Available to Kodi Wolf or BetaWolf top ^
Understanding and adhering to the terms for submitting Content to, and receiving Content from, BetaWolf and Kodi Wolf acting as a member of BetaWolf is the responsibility of the User. Kodi Wolf is not responsible for monitoring or filtering Content submitted by Users of BetaWolf.
Content related to Kodi Wolf's stories that is sent or made available to you as a member of BetaWolf through e-mail, chat, or otherwise, including, but not limited to, story text, research notes, outlines, timelines, and comments written by Kodi Wolf, is copyrighted to Kodi Wolf.
You hereby agree not to share outside of BetaWolf any Content related to Kodi Wolf's stories that you send/receive through e-mail, chat, or otherwise, to/from BetaWolf or Kodi Wolf.
You also agree to relinquish any rights to any Content based on or related to Kodi Wolf's stories that you create and send to Kodi Wolf or other members of Betawolf through e-mail, chat, or otherwise, including, but not limited to, comments, critiques, edits, notes, and suggestions, and hereby transfer copyright to Kodi Wolf; the work will become the property of Kodi Wolf.
Any Content not related to Kodi Wolf's stories that is sent or made available to Kodi Wolf or BetaWolf by Kodi Wolf or members of BetaWolf through e-mail, chat, or otherwise, shall be treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary, and any member of BetaWolf, including Kodi Wolf, will be free to use any ideas or concepts for any purpose whatsoever, including, but not limited to, developing, modifying, and selling stories and other materials using such Content.
Any alleged violation of Kodi Wolf's copyright will result in your account being suspended (including any paid memberships you may have) until such time as a full investigation can be made. If it's determined a violation of copyright has taken place, the matter will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law and your account will be suspended permanently. If it's determined no violation took place, your account will be reinstated.
4. Restrictions on Use top ^
You are hereby granted a nonexclusive, nontransferable, limited license to view and use information retrieved from BetaWolf for the sole purpose of evaluating Kodi Wolf's stories, and provided you do not remove or obscure the copyright notice or other notices. Evaluation includes, but is not limited to, comments, critiques, edits, notes, and suggestions intended for Kodi Wolf's sole use. Except as expressly provided below, the information and underlying source HTML code on BetaWolf may not be reproduced, republished, copied, transmitted, or distributed in any form or by any means.
Permission for limited use of information retrieved from BetaWolf:
You may write an infinite number of evaluations based on Kodi Wolf's original stories provided that you agree:
to turn copyright of the work over to Kodi Wolf;
not to share the work with anyone outside of BetaWolf; and
to destroy (delete, shred, burn, or otherwise make unreadable) any work based on Kodi Wolf's stories at any time Kodi Wolf requests.
You may save multiple electronic copies of each chapter, story, series of stories, or story-related Content, to facilitate your evaluation of Kodi Wolf's stories.
You may print multiple paper copies of each chapter, story, series of stories, or story-related Content, to facilitate your evaluation of Kodi Wolf's stories.
Any use not listed above is strictly prohibited.
As the copyright for Content related to Kodi Wolf's stories belongs to Kodi Wolf and your use of such Content is restricted to evaluation purposes only and the copyright for your evaluation also belongs to Kodi Wolf, you hereby agree to destroy (delete, shred, burn, or otherwise make unreadable) within three days of receiving such a request from Kodi Wolf any copies or records in your possession of Content, including, but not limited to, e-mails, Word files, printouts, chat transcripts, and Web pages, related to Kodi Wolf's stories obtained through BetaWolf or created by you. If you have a valid Site or Story Membership, you may retain only what is available to you through your Site or Story Membership.
5. Your Member Obligations top ^
You must provide in-depth evaluations of Kodi Wolf's stories every time you receive new story Content.
You will only receive Content according to the choices you made on your application form, meaning only for the stories you've selected and only at the point in the beta-reading process you've chosen to participate.
You must provide your evaluation in accordance with the skills you listed on your application, though any and all critiques are welcome.
Except as provided below, if you cannot find anything wrong in the areas you've agreed to work on, then you must provide a general evaluation of the chapter/story. For example: Which scenes really worked for you and why? Did something make you laugh out loud? Shed a tear? Get your heart thumping? Turn you on? Please explain. Be detailed.
In addition, if your evaluation is the equivalent of, "Looks good. Waiting for the next chapter," or consists of only a few instances of comments or edits in comparison to the length of the Content (a good rule of thumb is not less than one 5-sentence paragraph for every 20 paragraphs or 2 pages of Content), your evaluation will not be accepted and you will receive one chance to provide a more in-depth critique as described above.
If you still cannot provide an acceptable evaluation, your BetaWolf membership for that particular story will be suspended permanently. If you provide similar feedback again for another story, all of your BetaWolf memberships will be suspended permanently.
However, the above requirement only applies to the first time you evaluate the Content (regardless of draft) or if you receive subsequent drafts with extensive edits (example: expanded scenes, cut scenes, new scenes, or any other changes that substantially differ from the previous version). If the edits were minor and have fixed the problems you mentioned previously, you may say merely that the edits work, though if they don't work, you will be expected to provide an in-depth explanation.
Kodi Wolf reserves the right to request a more detailed evaluation for any reason at any time.
You must provide your evaluation within the allotted time period.
If for any reason you cannot provide your evaluation within the allotted time, but the problem is only temporary (less than 3 months), simply send an e-mail saying you won't be able to beta-read until a specific time (provide the month/date you expect to be able to resume beta-reading). You do not need to provide an explanation. You won't receive any more material until after the date you specify.
If the problem isn't temporary (6 months or more), please request to be removed from BetaWolf. Your BetaWolf membership will be suspended indefinitely. You will be able to reactivate your BetaWolf membership at any time by sending an e-mail saying you're ready to beta-read again (meaning you won't have to go through the enrollment process again).
If you send two e-mails in a row saying you can't beta-read, your BetaWolf membership will be suspended for a minimum of one year. After that time, you will be able to reactivate your BetaWolf membership by sending an e-mail saying you're ready to beta-read again (meaning you won't have to go through the enrollment process again). After your BetaWolf membership has been reactivated, if you send another e-mail saying you can't beta-read within the next three times you receive Content for evaluation, your BetaWolf membership will be suspended permanently.
Your evaluation must be properly formatted.
Detailed tutorials for how to format your evaluation are available for free on W.O.L.F. Sector. If your evaluation doesn't comply with those guidelines, you will receive one chance to correct it and resend it. If you refuse or disregard the formatting guidelines again, your BetaWolf membership will be suspended permanently, unless it appears the problem was caused during the transmission of your e-mail. In that case, Kodi Wolf will work with you to resolve the problem.
You must maintain a valid e-mail address.
If the system receives two bounces in a row from your e-mail address (meaning your inbox is full and can no longer accept new mail or your e-mail address no longer exists), your account (including any paid memberships you may have) will be suspended until you provide a valid e-mail address. Requesting to be removed from BetaWolf will not reactivate your account. A valid e-mail address is required for all types of membership on W.O.L.F. Sector. You must provide a valid e-mail address to get your account reinstated.
6. Termination top ^
You agree that Kodi Wolf may, under certain circumstances and without prior notice, immediately terminate your BetaWolf membership and access to BetaWolf. Cause for such termination shall include, but not be limited to:
breaches or violations of the BetaWolf Terms of Use or the Site's TOS or other incorporated agreements or guidelines;
requests by law enforcement or other government agencies;
a request by you (self-initiated account deletions);
discontinuance or material modification to the Service (or any part thereof);
unexpected technical or security issues or problems;
extended periods of inactivity;
engagement by you in fraudulent or illegal activities, and/or;
nonpayment of any fees owed by you in connection with the Services.
Termination of your BetaWolf membership includes, but is not limited to:
removal of access to all offerings within BetaWolf, including but not limited to, Chat and mailing list announcements, and/or
barring of further use of BetaWolf.
Further, you agree that all terminations for cause shall be made in Kodi Wolf's sole discretion and that neither Kodi Wolf nor W.O.L.F. Sector shall be liable to you or any third party for any termination of your membership or access to BetaWolf.
In addition, upon termination of your BetaWolf membership, whether for one story or multiple stories, you agree to destroy (delete, shred, burn, or otherwise make unreadable) any copies or records in your possession of Content, including, but not limited to, e-mails, Word files, printouts, chat transcripts, and Web pages, related to Kodi Wolf's stories obtained through or created by you for the BetaWolf membership that has been terminated. You may only retain Content for an active BetaWolf membership as described in Section 3.
