And the Medical Drama Continues

So, yeah, my wife had a left occipital stroke sometime around 7am on May 22nd. It didn't cause paralysis or weakness on one side or anything like that. It caused her to lose part of her peripheral vision on the right side in both eyes.

They kept her in the hospital for 3 days and then sent her home and set her up with PT and OT again.

She's regained some of the lost vision. When she first woke up, she said she could only see half of my face when I was only a couple feet away from her. But within the first couple days, that area shrunk to a much smaller wedge, so she can see things to the far right, then there's a section that's gone, and then she can see in front of her and a little to the right, and everything to the left is fine. She can also see above and below the blind spot.

And within a day or so, she started seeing shapes in the dark area, which the neurologist said is sort of like phantom limb syndrome. It's just her brain not liking that it isn't getting any stimulation there, so it's making shit up to fill the void. He was actually really cool and asked her to create some art based on what she's seeing, so I got her some acrylic paint pens and a pack of pipe cleaners to draw and sculpt the images.

Anyway, so while we keep hoping things will calm down, shit just keeps ramping up. Every doctor appointment seems to spawn three more. It's fucking exhausting.

Oh, and she's been diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea, so now she's learning how to use a CPAP machine. She's doing pretty well with it, using it about 4-6 hours a night from pretty much the first night, which is awesome, but it does keep waking her up, so we're still figuring it out.

On the bright side, one of the newer meds has really helped her oxygen levels and she's been breathing better, which has let her be a little more active. Unfortunately, it costs $12,000 per month, but insurance is covering most of it (for now) and she was able to get a grant to cover the rest for a few months, so she'll have to apply for another one when it runs out. Otherwise, I'm not sure what we're going to do.

And like I said, she didn't lose any cognitive functions or physical abilities, so that's good.

But yeah, the website and all updates are still on hold. Give me a few more months and we'll see where I'm at then.

And again, if you're a member and would like me to send you the most recent story files, let me know. Or if you want to become a member, follow the instructions on the Membership page. That's worked really well so far and I appreciate the support.

Take care.

Hey,

Sorry for the fake out, but I don't collect email addresses for marketing purposes.

I was just told I needed an email signup form on my pages, so I created this one as part of the original design, then changed my mind, but decided to leave this here as an Uno reverse card. :)

Anyway, my stories are my sales pitch and if the free chapters (and entire books) aren't enough to convince you to pay for access to more of the same, then I don't see how my bugging you with emails is going to change your mind.

Plus, I have social phobia and trying to come up with marketing emails is my definition of an anxiety-inducing nightmare.

Not to mention that's not what I want to be doing with my precious writing time or wasting your precious reading time.

So, if you want to get an email from me, you'll either have to purchase a Story or Site Membership, or email me directly and talk to me about my stories.

Or ask me a question and I'll do my best to answer.

But seriously, email me about my stories.

Tell me what you liked, what you wish I'd done differently, your favorite scenes.

Especially if there's one story in particular you'd like me to update. I know some of them have been sorely neglected and it motivates me to work on them when my anxiety and chronic pain are making that more difficult than usual.

Hope to hear from you soon. :)

Take care,

Kodi
