2009: Year In Review

No new chapters posted again (but I did get a couple completed finally).

For the first three months of the year, I was dealing with my cat Akasha being ill from kidney disease (my wife and I were giving her medication twice a day and subcutaneous fluids every other day). In March, I finally made the decision to let her go and put her to sleep. That gutted me.

In May, I started with the last of the renovations (tiling the hallway and kitchen).

In August, I ended up playing with my brain chemistry again, though not intentionally, since I had no idea the drug (Cymbalta) my headache doctor prescribed for my fibromyalgia would cause me to feel like I was going insane. It also had the unfortunate side effect of dulling out my muse, so not only was I not writing, I didn't really care that I wasn't writing.

In October, I got sick with bronchitis and had trouble breathing for several months, so I wasn't really up and around too much, though I did manage to finish two chapters of Lights of Life (13 and 14), which I'd been working on for a while (only about 5 years).

But I didn't really start feeling like myself until December, when I spent 8 solid days working on The Trine.

Moral of the Story

To quote one of my favorite lines, "Life is pain. You just get used to it." (from the movie The Long Kiss Goodnight)

This year felt like a continuation of the previous one. Life wasn't horrible or anything, but most of the time it felt like I couldn't catch a break, at least where my writing was concerned. In between all the crappy bits, I was left reeling and trying to deal with the aftermath, nevermind all the normal life stuff, and that really didn't leave a lot of space for writing. Yet, somehow, I did get some actual text written, not just notes or revisions. I guess that's the getting used to it part.
