For this update I'm adding 12 new poems that are all from 2009.

I start off with A Nice Surprise, which was inspired by an unexpected moment at the end of a long day at work. An Enchanted Evening is a Valentine's Day gift for Kodi. The next one, Goodbye, Akasha, is a memorial to the passing of one of Kodi's cats. After that is Not Just Another Gray Day, which is about finding beauty in an otherwise gloomy morning. Then Channel Surfing is about a night I spent on the couch with the remote in hand and came across something interesting. Missing Her is another poem about the loss of Kodi's cat. Next is Enough, which was inspired by looking at my boss's vacation photos. Then there's Nice View, about something I saw out my window at work. Third Time's The Charm is another poem that was inspired by something I saw on TV, but it's about different types of relationships. The next one is By The Light Of A Full Moon, which is about a romantic evening Kodi and I shared at the beach. Goodbye Kiss is another poem written for Kodi, it's about not being able to leave her without a proper goodbye. Then finally, Musing My Way Into Work is about my thoughts while listening to the radio one morning.

Well, that's it for now. Only two more years to go until the site is finally caught up. I'm really hoping to have it done by the end of the year.

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. Take care until next time.

For this update I've added 14 new poems to the site. They're all from 2008. It was another rough year. I was still dealing with the loss of my father. Therefore, most of the poems in this section are to my dad or about his death.

I lead off with The Taste of Honey, where my choice of breakfast food causes a flood of memories regarding the days when my dad kept bees. The next one is Only to Realize, which is about an intense dream I had. It's followed by I Still Haven't and Just A Souvenir, which were both sparked by that same dream. Then there's one called Home. It was inspired by something one of my sisters-in-law said to me in an email. The next few poems are for my dad again. Wild Passion Flower is about a fond moment with my father. Then Last Words is exactly that, the last words my father and I spoke to one another. Next is a poem to my mother and it's called Another Rejection. The Ties That Bind is about me scattering some of my father's ashes, while Proof of Existence continues with more thoughts about that day. The next one is a follow-up of sorts to last year's Father's Day poem and it's called One More Time. Those Doors Don't Lock is about another overwhelming dream of mine. Watching You is for Kodi, and it's about me watching her as she paints our home office. And the last poem is Exorcism, which is also about the painting of that room.

I've also added a photograph of my father to My Daddy. It's the image that was used on the pamphlet that was handed out at his memorial service.

I'm slowly getting my backlog of poems posted. I have three more years to go before the site is completely up-to-date, which I must admit I'm really looking forward to having it all done. I'm not quite there yet, but I'm working on it.

Thanks for stopping by and reading about my life. And as always, take care until next time.

I'm very pleased to finally be updating my site again. First off, I'd really like to thank my wife for all her love and support. She is instrumental in making my posts happen. I know it's not always easy proofing my work, especially some of my older stuff, but I really do appreciate her trudging through them anyway. Because honestly without her, my updates simply wouldn't happen.

So, thank you, baby, ... ! :)

This time, I'm adding a total of 24 new poems to the site.

There's one new poem in the 2004 section. It's about a dream I had of my older brother and is called Provoked.

The next eleven poems were all written in 2006. The first one is Graduation Night. It has the unique distinction of being the longest poem I've ever written. And of course as the title infers, it's about the night I graduated high school. The next two were written to my mother. They are And Never Will and Mother's Day. They're followed by Especially For You, which was written for a co-worker who retired, and in the Author's Notes I've included six of my own personal photographs. The next three poems were all inspired by using one of my five senses. The first is Grampa's Domain, a smell at work reminded me of my grandfather's basement. Then biting into a plum reminded me of A Taste From My Childhood. The next one I wrote after hearing a familiar accent on the phone, it's called A Stranger's Voice. Then there's Fine China, a poem I wrote for Kodi about a belated anniversary present we got for ourselves. It's followed by The Things You Say, which was written for one of my sisters-in-law, and in the Author's Notes I have included a link to the poem she wrote back to me as a reply. The last two poems, Silence = Consent and The Ones We Love, were written after visiting my father in the hospital.

Then there are twelve new poems for 2007, which was a pretty rough year because my father died in April. The majority of poems in this section are written for him or relate to his passing in some form or another. However, the very first poem is for my lovely wife, My Hopeless Romantic, as her Valentine's Day present. It's followed by My Daddy, which was written for his memorial service. Then there is a poem called Something Of His, and as the title implies is about wanting something of my father's. The next one is about the first Father's Day after his death. It's followed by Common Ground, a poem I wrote after finding out that my grandmother and I shared yet another interest. Then I wrote one about a dream I had, called Not Bad At All. It was highly religious, which usually bothers me, but it wasn't as bad as I initially thought. The same morning, Kodi woke from her own religious-themed dream. She immediately wrote hers down and has agreed to let me post it in the Author's Notes of the poem. Next is Daddy's Helper, a poem that was inspired by something I saw while stopped at a red light. Missing You is the next poem and it was written to one of my sisters-in-law. After that is Not With Words, which is about another dream I had of my father. The next one is Inheritance, and of course it's about the things I inherited from my dad. Finally, there's a poem called Regrets and that's exactly what it's about. And lastly, the twelfth poem is about running into Lust Woman while Kodi and I were out shopping. It's appropriately titled Ghost From The Past.

But wait, there's more...

For a while now I've wanted to post a few of my favorite poems from my sister-in-law. Her name is Ceredwyn and she is quite a storyteller. While her first love may be fiction, she has written several poems and even had one published in a poetry magazine, as well as online at poetry.com. She has allowed me to post four of her poems on my site. I've added a link on my Links page to a poetry page Kodi created for her. I've also added a link to the site where her fan fiction is posted. She is definitely one of my favorite authors. If you're interested, check her stuff out. She has stories in several different fandoms. I highly recommend the ones in her Harry Potter and Avatar: The Last Airbender series (Kodi also likes her Babylon 5/Battlestar Galactica crossover).

Well, that's it for this post. In closing, I'd like to say thank you for taking the time to stop by and read my poems. So, take care until next time.

February 21, 2011

I can't believe it's taken me this long to update my site. I had every intention of posting way before now, but obviously that didn't happen (life got in the way, as usual). I have quite the backlog of poems now, so I've decided to post them by year as I get them ready for the site.

Before I do that though, I want to fill in some of the gaps in earlier years with some poems I found hiding on my hard drive and in old boxes. I'm hoping they'll give a bit more detail about what was going on in my life at the times they were written.

So, I've added eleven new/old poems to the 1990s section.

I begin with one called Here and There, it was written to Georgia on my first visit to California. Next in the Author's Notes of Us In June, I have added a link to a poem Georgia wrote for me before my wedding to Wolfmoon. It's followed by My First Love, which is pretty self-explanatory. The next poem is for Lust Woman and it's called You Remain. Then Life of the Party, which is about a Christmas party Wolfmoon and I attended. After that is another one for Lust Woman entitled Restless. Then there is Contrast, which I finally decided to post. It's the third poem in the series that began with The Dam and Sad. The next three are about the end of my marriage to Wolfmoon. They are One Hand, Don't Want To Know, and Holding Pattern. And finally the last poem is Knowing Me, which was written to Lust Woman.

Now, on to a few site changes. Back in 2010 when I was getting ready to post some of the back log, Kodi helped me reformat the Welcome page. It's more streamlined and much easier to read now. Then there is a new section called About, where I talk about how I began writing poetry and how my Web site came to be. It's pretty much the same section that I used to have on the main poem page when my site was first created, but at some point, the section was removed due to the fact that there were too many buttons. But that's no longer an issue, and I really wanted that information back on the site, so now it is.

I've also decided to add a short description for each poem to the poem index pages. So, far I've only finished the 1980s and the 1990s sections, but I hope to get the 2000s done over the next few days.

And hopefully next weekend (fingers crossed) will see the addition of 2006 and 2007.
