I know it's such a cliché to say
That time changes everything
Personally, I think it's a true statement
Take today for example
I was driving home for lunch
When a song came on the radio
One I hadn't heard in quite some time
It was a song I used to hate
But instead of changing the station
I reached over and turned up the volume
I found that I no longer disliked it
Although it did remind me of when
And why I used to despise the song
My younger brother
Was a senior in high school
I would have been in my
Last year of college
At the time, we both still lived at home
Our bedrooms were on the opposite end
Of the house from our parents
Our rooms shared a common wall
His stereo was along that wall
In the morning, when he was
Getting ready for school
He liked to listen to AC/DC
He didn't just listen, though
The volume had to be up high
I didn't have to be in class
Until later on in the morning
And still had a few more hours
I could've slept, but no
That's not usually how it would go
He'd blast "Back in Black"
I'd bolt straight up in bed
Then yell at him to, "Turn that crap down!"
Twenty some years ago
I'd have never believed
That one day I'd hear that song
And remember that time in my life
With fondness and a smile
