Heart and Soul

Oh yeah, I love that song
It takes me back to when
Wolfmoon and I were together
Yeah, it's a good memory
Tell you about it? Okay
The song reminds me of
My very first time at a gay bar
Georgia and Aloha and
Wolfmoon and I had been
Hanging out together for months
When one night they decided
It was time to introduce
Wolfmoon and I to gay culture
Plans were made for the weekend
For us all to go to the bar
It was called The Power Company
We arrived early around nine
So that we could get a table
The place was almost empty
Except for a few other couples
There were two bars
That faced each other
On opposite walls
Between them was a raised
Hardwood dance floor
We ordered a round of drinks
Sat back and relaxed and waited
For the night to begin
We didn't have to wait long when
T'Pau's song began to play
A couple took the dance floor
They were dressed to the nines
God, they looked so hot
One had short dark hair and
Wore a white linen suit
With a powder blue dress shirt
While her girlfriend
Had long blonde hair and
Wore this amazing red dress
I watched in awe as they danced
Loving the way their bodies
Moved together
Definitely enjoying the show
I decided then to buy that song
Knowing that it would forever
Remind me of my first gay bar
And of this couple
The devil in the red dress
And her butch in white

Author's Notes

Kodi was in the process of making music CDs for the reception. She was putting together a dance mix, and we were talking about old dance songs that we loved, when she played T'Pau's "Heart and Soul," which brought up that memory. She asked me to tell her about it. So, I did.

Kodi made three CDs of our favorite love songs and the one dance mix. On the drive up to Vermont, we listened to them. To my surprise, "Heart and Soul" was the very first song on the dance CD. Have I ever mentioned how much I love her? Well, I do... from head to toe, heart and soul... and everything in between!
