My Prince Charming

You come out dressed
In only part of your wedding attire
The wedding shirt and doublet
To show me how your new chain looks
I glance over at you
And see the purple and gold
On your doublet
And my heart just melts
For that’s all it takes
To send my brain off on a tangent
Trying to imagine you all dressed up
For the ceremony with your sword
When my next thought is
My knight in shining armor
No, no, that's not right
You're not going to wear armor
How about my Prince Charming
But you’re not a man
Okay then, my Princess Charming
But that’s not quite right either
When I think of a princess I imagine
A woman in a frilly ball gown
With all those femme qualities
Which are so totally not you
You’re much more butch than that
And you’ll be wearing leather breeches
With a sword at your side
Which is manly in a way
So that brings me back to
Prince Charming again
Which I do like
And that phrase seems to
Pop into my head whenever
I see you dressed like this
And that’s probably what I’ll be thinking
On our wedding day as well
But wait a minute
My mind stops and wonders
Just what you’ll think
When you see me all dressed up
For the first time
Because I’m not
A damsel in distress
Nor will I be in a wedding dress
I’ll be wearing my leather breeches
And doublet like you
But with a dragger on my hip
Instead of a sword
Will your heart just melt
At the sight of me
The way mine does for you

Author's Notes

Although Kodi and I know and have seen the outfits that we'll be wearing for our handfasting, we have not seen each other dressed in our entire outfits yet. We want to save that for the day itself. So, we've only tried on different parts to show each other at any given time.

I was out in the kitchen doing the dishes, when she came in to show me how well the new chain went with her outfit, and the poem is basically where my head went in just a few minutes. The next day at work, I had some time to spare, so I wrote it all down and sent it off in an email to Kodi at home. Turns out, she does actually like being called my Prince Charming.

Kodi also answered my question. So far, when she's seen me in parts of my wedding attire, she feels it a little lower in her anatomy. As for her thoughts, well, they tend to lean more towards the honeymoon, imagining me out of my outfit and into one of my wedding presents, a set of black leather restraints for my wrists and ankles.

Here's my Prince Charming on our wedding day.
