Awakened

By your presence
As you get into bed
Rolling over away from you
I drift back to sleep

Awakened

From my dreams
By your tight embrace
By the sound of your voice
Whispering in my ear

Awakened

Eyes open wide
I make no sound nor do I move
I listen to your words
As you tell me of your dream

Awakened

I hear the fear and pain
As you speak your heart
Longing to hold you, I roll over
Now that I've been

Awakened

Author's Notes

Have you ever had one of those scary dreams that still upsets you whenever you think about it, even if it's days later? Kodi had a dream like that earlier in the week and by the weekend it still bothered her. I had gone to bed around three o'clock Sunday morning, while Kodi stayed up to write or play a computer game. She was still up around seven o'clock when all she could think about was that dream, and having me hold her. So she decided to just come to bed and wake me up.

Her dream? Well, she dreamed that she woke up in her old apartment back in Rochester, alone. Kodi said her brain gave her a glimpse of what life would be like without me, which totally sucked.
