Response

I was barely awake
this morning
when I felt your presence
opened my eyes to see
you standing there
with your back to me
getting undressed
as I watched you
empty your pockets
slip out of your jeans and shirt
my back arched
my body responded
as though I had actually
felt the touch of your hand
or the kiss of your lips
oh how I love what you do to me

Author's Notes

We spent the week seeing the sights, and just hanging out. Then on Friday morning, we turned in the car for a moving truck. And packed it up that afternoon and by nine o'clock that evening we drove out of Rochester, NY. Sixteen hours later, Kodi, all her stuff, and her two cats were in my house, much to my own cat's horror. This poem was written during our first week living together.
