Two Weeks
I flipped the calendar over
To July this morning
And noticed that
Wednesday of this week
Will be two weeks
Two weeks darling
Two weeks until you're in my arms
And I am in yours
Two weeks until we hold each other tight
Two weeks until I feel your kiss again
Two weeks until my tongue fills your mouth
Two weeks until I bury my face in your neck
And whisper I love you in your ear
Two weeks baby
Just two weeks until I am there where you are
I need to be where you are
I can hardly wait

Author's Notes
Kodi visited for two weeks in June. Then she went back home to Rochester, NY. Her leaving was extremely hard for both of us. The amount of time we spent on the phone increased dramatically. And we both knew it would be so much cheaper for us to just move in together. So, she decided to move here to North Carolina.
Believe me, Kodi's leaving was hard, but it was nothing compared to the month we spent apart. We both missed each other so much, and sometimes the distance between us was sheer torture. I recall one night in particular, we were on the phone, and Kodi was upset and crying. I just wanted to hold her so badly. All I could do was just be there for her and tell her that I wanted to hold her, which helped. But it did nothing to relieve the need for physical contact. Then there were days when Kodi would be sleeping or working on a story and wouldn't be online, and I would find myself on her fiction site reading a story just to feel close to her.
We just wanted to be together already. I can't tell you how many times one of us would wish that someone would invent transporter technology, like on Star Trek, so that Kodi and all her stuff could've been here instantly.
I didn't have enough vacation time accrued to take an entire week off from work. So originally, I had planned to leave for Rochester on Wednesday, July 19th, which would have been two weeks and two days when this poem was written. But the more we talked, the more time I wanted to spend with Kodi there before we packed up the truck and moved her 700 miles to the south. So, I asked my boss for an advance on my vacation leave. Fortunately it was granted, which allowed me to leave on Saturday, July 15th, instead.
