A place in my heart

In the last few days
Of trudging around in the past
I have come to realize something
From the prospective of who I am now
I have rediscovered what I knew long ago
Something I've known and
Maybe simply forgotten

Tears fill my eyes at just the thought
Of telling you how much you mean to me
How much you have always meant
For you were my first true friend, a confidante
The first person I completely trusted
The first one I let know my heart
You were the first to put a pen in my hand

So I could write out my pain and let it go
You always took time to listen to me
My thoughts were important to you
So no matter what the future may hold
I wanted to make one thing very clear
No matter who I may love
You will always have

A place in my heart...

Author's Notes

This poem was written for Wolfmoon. At the time, I had been reading some old poems I had written for her. And I remembered all the reasons why I fell in love with her in the first place. I guess it was my way of telling her that I held no grudges with her for the past.

I still care about her, and I probably always will. She was my first, and you always remember your first girl. Or so I've been told.
