Watching and Waiting

I watch you leave
I watch as you go to her
I know what you're supposed to do
I can't believe that it's finally over with her

I try to keep myself busy
I watch TV
I eat a few oranges
I fix my dinner
I wash the dishes
I put the cloths in the dryer
I watch the clock
I wait

I take the cloths out of the dryer
I hang them up
I answer the phone; it's not you
I talk
I cry
I listen to Georgia's words
I wish you'd come home
I write
I answer the phone, it's you
I hear your voice, what do I hear in your voice
I fear
I love

I wait for your words
I wait for your decision
I wait for what it will bring
I wait for you
I wait for the phone call
I wait for the words; "I'm on my way home"
I wait for the sound of your truck
I wait for the sound of your key in the door
I wait for the sight of you
I wait to hold you in my arms

So tell me,
Just how long does it take
To finish a cup of coffee?

Author's Notes

Wolfmoon had gone over to Wind Dancer's house. She was supposed to be ending the affair. So I was home alone, waiting. I tried to stay busy and not worry that my fears of her not ending it would come true. But they eventually did.

Wolfmoon had called me to say that she was leaving as soon she finished a cup of coffee. So, I waited for the second call from her cell phone to let me know that she was on her way home. It was almost two hours before that call came. Hence, the last line of the poem.
