Isle of you

"close your eyes and
imagine yourself in a
calm, peaceful place..."

I closed my eyes
and imagined I was
walking barefoot
along a beach
I felt the warmth
of the sun on my skin
the sand under my feet
and the coolness
of the water as
the waves crashed

"maybe a quiet meadow,
notice your surroundings..."

I sat on a log in a
mountain meadow
with colorful wildflowers
all around me
I could hear the birds
I took a deep breath
and drank in the
fragrance of the flowers
I felt the gentle breeze
as it blew through the trees

"maybe you're inside now,
safe and sound, notice your
surroundings, and use all
your senses..."

I was inside a cabin
standing at the glass doors
looking out at the mountains
and the trees around the lake
watching the sun set
behind the ridge
I could hear the pop and crackle
of wood as it burned in the fireplace
the room was warm and dark
I felt your presence behind me
then your arms slipped around
my waist and held me close
I felt the warmth of your love
not a word was spoken
as we watched the sun
slowly fade away...

you are my refuge
into thoughts of you
I can retreat at anytime
escape to the
isle of you

Author's Notes

I had taken a class on learning to reduce your stress. The instructor was using guided meditation to direct our thoughts. And this poem is where my mind wandered. As usual, it wandered to Lust Woman.
