At the bar
We dance precariously
On the edge of my desire
Just a smile from you
Will fuel the fire
Here in this crowded room
But alone we play the game
I'm drawn to you
Like a moth to the flame
The flame has taken control
And with no will to fight
Around and around I fly
To be consumed by the night
The lights and the music
Have put me under your spell
Leaving me to wonder
Would you catch me if I fell

Author's Notes
Georgia, Aloha, Wolfmoon, and myself spent a great deal of time together; dinners at their house, cookouts, and beach trips. They even took us to our first gay bar. At the end of most nights, Wolfmoon and Georgia would have to drag Aloha and I off the dance floor just to go home.
We seemed to go out dancing at least once a month. This poem and the next one, An Innocent Dance, were both written about the same evening. There was definitely something strange in the air that night. I can't explain it other than to say I'd secretly had a crush on Aloha. But dancing with her, I felt as though some force was pulling all those feelings to the surface.
